She lived in central New Jersey surrounded by beautiful farm land for 20 years before moving and settling in Maine over a decade ago.
Her art guidance has been primarily through private instruction and in recent years she has attended multiple workshops in Maine and Vermont. She is grateful to those who introduced her to plein air painting as this has provided her with the opportunity to paint the essence of nature.

Bowdoinham Guild of Artisans (Art Show)

Opening Reception: February 28th | 5-7PM
Show Run: Through March 31st

The Bowdoinham Guild of Artisans is a collection of practicing artists and artisans who live and work in the Bowdoinham area. The group started with five people in 2004 and has grown to a diverse membership of twenty which includes artists, photographers, potters, woodworkers, fiber artists, jewelers, and other artisans. For over fifteen years, the group has hosted a Holiday Show and Sale at the Bowdoinham Town Hall during the first weekend in December. This has become the anchor for a town-wide celebration of events kicking off the holiday season. In recent years, the Guild has presented shows at the Merrymeeting Arts Center, participated in local art walks, and had a booth at the Celebrate Bowdoinham event. Individual artists actively market their work through a variety of venues.

The current mission of the Bowdoinham Guild of Artisans is to support and encourage Bowdoinham artisans by providing a means for them to collaborate, exhibit, and sell their work and to foster the value of art and hand crafted works.

Wren Pearson (Art Show)

to Nov 13

Wren Pearson (Art Show)

Opening: October 18th @ 5PM
Show Run: October 18th – November 13th

Artist Bio
Wren Pearson‘s first paint surface was a half-frozen trout that was unceremoniously slapped onto a white t-shirt at the urging of Georgetown artist, Julie Hoffman. That afternoon of making fish prints on a kitchen table began a creative adventure that approaches its third decade. Wren began Purple Perch Papers in the early nineties, a line of handmade papers and cards, after classes with papermakers Martha Blowen and Richard Lee. She transitioned into papier mache sculpture and painted folk art pieces, as well as collage jewelry from hand-painted papers under the name Bumblepuppy Folk Art.  Bumblepuppy went on to include hand-painted t-shirts and small garden sculptures. Founding the ‘Circle of Friends’ holiday art fair in the Freeport/Pownal area, Wren spent 25 seasons inviting area artists and the public into her home studio to celebrate giving hand crafted gifts.  After several years in Texas, Wren returned to Maine with a new color palette heavily influenced by the west and the strong colors of Mexican and Central American art.  In Pownal, she has co-founded Fuego Diablo Arts Studio with her husband, composer/musician Jamie Pearson, where they have hosted Open Mic Music Nights, car boot sales, art shows and sales, and run a hot sauce business called Big Phil's Kitchen.  Wren Pearson is an award-winning photographer and a writer when she runs low on paints and canvases.

Artist Statement
“It‘s a frustrating thing, trying to create a painting that matches the one in your mind.  I've yet to do it. But sometimes you get a glimpse at what's possible and you're happy in the small details. A shadow under a straw hat. A strand of hair. The color of a dog's eye.  So you keep trying.”

Wave, Petal, Branch (Art Show)
Aug
16
to Sep 11

Wave, Petal, Branch (Art Show)

Show Run: August 16th – September 11th

“Painting plein air offers a great sense of adventure and exploration. Discovering new places and rediscovering familiar ones with the luxury of time (as painting requires) is one of the most satisfying moments of life. When these paintings get worked deeply into my psyche I can then morph them into something more fantastical or abstract and in that way can keep a theme evolving into something new and exciting again. Working with different paint mediums, surfaces, and sizes is a way to capture the feeling I am seeking to communicate and allows for a greater sense of play and surprise.”
