"Tell Her This" Community Storytelling / Tell Her This Live! Featuring Rochelle Rice
"Our liberation as humans is through our stories." ~ Rochelle Rice
Join us for a special storytelling workshop series and live performance with the artist Rochelle Rice.
Rochelle Rice is a masterful vocalist, composer, and storyteller whose artistry blurs the lines between jazz, soul, and contemporary pop. The singer’s most recent project is a Podcast and live performances called TELL HER THIS, which combines podcasting, live music, and visual art to celebrate the stories and wisdom of women across generations. It’s a heartfelt journey into women's lives, told through honest, intimate stories that transcend borders and generations. With over 100,000 downloads in 151 countries across six continents, Tell Her This has created a global community of listeners who are drawn to its raw authenticity and deeply personal narratives. From the bittersweet ache of family estrangement to the transformative moments of near-death experiences, Tell Her This shines a light on women's lives strength, vulnerability, and beauty.
The Chocolate Church is excited to announce a storytelling workshop for women, where, under the guidance of Ms. Rice, storytellers will write and tell a story that will be integrated with other artistic components -- such as music -- and culminate in a community performance at the Chocolate Church Annex, a day before our main stage hosts the artist with her traveling storytelling show, Tell Her This Live!, on Saturday, April 5.
Tell Her This brings these stories to life in a three-dimensional, multimedia experience. Audiences are immersed in audio vignettes from the podcast, paired with Rochelle’s emotionally charged performances of original music blending pop, soul, and jazz. This is set against a backdrop of striking video imagery from Strong, Like Water, a large-scale portrait art installation that honors the resilience and grace of women. Through words, music, and visual art, Tell Her This invites listeners to connect with the profound and universal truths found in personal stories, proving that even in our differences, we are connected.
