Music & Dance Celebrating Community at the Chocolate Church!

On Saturday, the Chocolate Church invites you to come, celebrate, enjoy amazing music, and dance. Yaya Agosto and Bomba Fusion will bring the amazing tradition of Bomba. Bomba is one of the oldest and most deeply rooted musical traditions of Puerto Rico. A dynamic blend of music, dance, and song, at the heart of Bomba is drumming and Bomba Fusion, led by its lead singer and dancer, Yaya Agosto, brings amazing drummers. Children and adults can learn the basic Bomba steps, how to listen for the drum’s response, and how to express themselves through movement.

Then, there will be a performance by Mica Farias Gomez, a singer/composer/dancer, hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her music explores pan-Latin folk pathways with roots foundations, layering hip-hop, electronics, and samples over candombe, murga, chacarera, flamenco, and other traditional forms. Accompanied by master percussionist Manu Uriona, you will love another offering of beautiful and celebratory folk traditions.

There will also be empanadas, and other food and drink.
