Land & Sea: Brian Killeen (Art Show)

Gallery Reception: April 1 (3-5pm)
Show Run: 4/01/23 to 5/27/23
Artist: Brian Killeen

Brian Killeen is a painter living in Portland, Maine. His oil paintings capture the airy feeling of the land and sea, as well as the geometry of city life and interior spaces. His recent work deals with the desire to break free, to escape into the vacationland of Maine. For him, painting fulfills this desire. His paintings are grounded in his training in illustration as well as his experience as a K-12 art educator. Originally from St. Louis, MO, Brian has lived and painted in Maine for 15 years. He earned a Master of Arts in Teaching at Maine College of Art in 2019 and has been teaching K-12 art for 4 years. Brian enjoys sharing his skills and encouraging young people to express their unique styles and voices through the process of art making. Brian earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration at the University of Kansas in 1995. Since living in Maine, Brian has located his painting work in the tradition of other painters who also came from an illustration background and later found their love of painting in this region. Brian believes in noticing what he notices and finds that the more he paints, the more he sees the world as he would paint it.

CCAC will host an open house event with the artists. The event will take place partly outdoors, with light refreshments served. The event is free to attend, but guests must register in advance to get tickets for the open house event only.
